I thought there was still issues with WE accessing the server. I eneded up using someones WE plug-in to access the windows server. I'm at work now so I don't have the plug in information. although you can search for my posts as member "alaskan" it's my home name. I use WE at home and work.
I'll try and locate the plug-in addy for  you. it worked very well!

Welcome,
Jim is not available, but others will help as best we can.  As your question pertains to asp.net I will repeat what is in the ASPX forum here mostly from Jim himself.  You can use asp.net in a masterpage.  You can use html in a aspx page.  You most definitely have to have a microsoft server in order to use asp.net   

Right now there is no one that participates here regularly with a great deal of asp.net knowledge.  The link I am providing Forums.asp.net - Home are asp.net users that may be able to help more with asp.net questions

It's great to have someone like you out there. I have designed web sites in the past using Front Page 2002. I am now working a new site using Expression Web 3. The site is HTML DWT format. I want my site to be for members only. Can I include ASP.Net in my site to create the login forms? I am having a problem with the login requirement.

Well yes really I have decided to build thid with tables for layout as there is a lot of table info that I can't change etc.
So I suppose I can make one main table name it container and place my table layout inside that.

If you make a table less than 100% width containing it with a div would prevent anything from floating up beside it.  Remember that depending on the resolution of the viewers monitor, if everything is not in some kind of constraining container they will float up to fill the space.  I always use a container to fix the width of my sites, that way I always know where everything is going to be. What you are getting is the default table setting.  When the table settings pop up comes up you have the option to set the number in pixels or % and the ability to change the number (default is 100%).  If you change this number and the units to say 500 px,  a class style is input into the head section as shown below:

I've done the steps but can't get past the first part where default.htm is made and "main.css" is supposed to pop up and ask you to save this.

How do I cause the "Main.css" save request to appear? Is it in a main setting? Any help is greatly appreciated!Smile

Welcome Pampered1,
This is best addressed at the server if you use ftp. In your server acct there should be a place for password protecting directories. Then you can address each file accordingly. You cannot ftp unless FrontPage Server Extensions are disabled

If you publish via http there is a password section in the program FP2002 somewhere. If you have FP2003 you are out of luck. If you have EW you are out of luck. The only thing you can do is disable the FPSE and then use ftp from then on and then you can use .htaccess files thru Password Protection via the server (see above).

If you use a Microsoft server and can move to aspx pages, then jimd who runs this site has a password program that you can use. Just private message him. If you are not familiar with aspx then this is not for you.

I have several things that need improvement, I know, especially tightening up the css. Also, I have now had a request to find out how to create a secure page on which we can put some pdf files for a particular class to access, but to have entered by a passcode of sorts. Can you tell me how I might try that? The contents will be some contemporary issues discussed in a publication produced by Cokesbury, and there is permission granted for use of the publication in multiple forms for only the first 4 pages of each issue purchased. Any suggestion? We also have a weekly newsletter and photos we would like to make available to our members online, but sometimes names, phone numbers, etc., make us want to keep the access limited.
