FrontPage includes in Expression web
<!--webbot bot="Include" U-Include="page.htm" TAG="BODY" -->
We have seen many comments regarding the exclusion of the FrontPage bots, the automatic code that made using FrontPage so very simple. One such removal is the include page component. All is not lost as Microsoft have committed to bringing the Page include feature into Expression Web in the new year (2007)
Until then, there is a common work around so that expression web can use the page include feature.
Create the Include page code snippet.
<!--webbot bot="Include" U-Include="page.htm" TAG="BODY" -->
Above is the code that FrontPage used to call an include page. We can simply take this code and add it as a code sample. Then each time we need an include page put into our existing web page just carry out a couple of simple clicks and its done.
To create the code snippet, we need to copy the code and then from the tools menu, click on the page editor options, the find the code snippet tab. Click on this and click add. Type in a keyword and description. Then paste the bit of code into the last box. That's it. Now all you need to do when you want to use a page include in the future, is to place your cursor in the code view and do:
Ctrl and enter - together. This brings up the code snippet box, scroll to the include page snippet and click on it.
Then back in design view, just double click on the include page and set the path to the page you want to include.
